Guardian Program: About

Guardian Program: Welcome
Here at Furrytail Doodles we provide only the best for our breeding dogs who are loving members of our family. To ensure we are able to give these dogs the best possible life while being able to expand our breeding program. We choose our future breeding dogs very carefully, and only those with qualities that we want to see more of as our “breeders pick of the litter”. Our guardian homes receive the best we have to offer when we place a potential future breeding dog with them. Guardian families receive what we consider to be high quality, healthy, and allergy friendly pets.
Guardian families are expected to properly care for their new puppy\dog physically and financially. We will cover all costs associated with breeding and care for all litters produced by guardian family dogs. So basically, you will get an adorable puppy\dog to add to your family at a lower cost, and we get to use him or her in our breeding program. Pretty simple, Guardian dogs will remain your forever family pet but will come to see us every so often to sire or whelp their litters.
Our puppies are sent to families across the world, changing and healing lives with the power of a puppy. For you to be considered as a guardian family, you must live in California- preferably in Los Angeles County.
Qualifications:
*Must have a fenced yard
*Have previous experience with owning a puppy\dog or have knowledge on caring for a puppy\dog
*Provide a puppy\dog with health care, nutrition, and exercise
*Properly train and socialize a new puppy\dog
*keep up with grooming both professionally and at home including regular brushing\bathing
*We ask that you allow us to make appointments to pick up the puppy\dog to get professional photos taken to put on our website\social media.
*Guardian dogs must be kept on a healthy diet including our chosen food brand
*Guardian families are responsible for all general vet care (aside from breeding related visits)
*Guardian dogs must respond to their given name which will not change unless discussed prior.
*Monthly Visits as a puppy. We host play dates almost every once a month for our guardian puppies (at no cost to you). This is a way we can really get to know and continue a relationship with our puppy. It is also amazing socialization!
Owning a female guardian dog:
Once the dog is of age, has passed all of her health testing, and is ready to breed Guardians must be able to detect a heat cycle, while notifying us the first day of any signs of each heat cycle is seen, and keep females away from intact males during this process. We will have her for a few days during the breeding process. After she has been bred, she will return to her guardian family who will care for her during her pregnancy. She will come back to us a week before she is due to whelp her litter. (Guardian families are always welcome to visit) Females will retire after having 4 litters. Once retired the female will be spayed and continue to live happily with her guardian family.
Owning a male guardian dog:
Once the dog is of age, has passed all of his health testing and is ready to be bred. Our male dogs will spend a few days with us when needed during breeding. Males will sire around 3-6 litters per year. (Guardians are always welcome to visit). Occasionally male dogs are used for stud services to outside breeding programs. Guardians must keep male dogs away from intact females in heat. Male dogs will retire once the age of 5-7, once retired the male will be neutered and continue to live happily with his guardian family.
